Anton Giacomo Bredow
Anton is currently a PhD candidate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM), where he was previously awarded Honours Class I for his thesis Chopin’s place within the Viennese musical tradition, as well as his recitals of Chopin’s piano music on period instruments.
Since 2017 Anton has been Research Assistant for Professor Neal Peres Da Costa's Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project Deciphering nineteenth-century pianism: invigorating global practices.
Current research interests include
nineteenth century performance practices, specifically those pertaining to Frédéric Chopin. In his research Anton gathers data from written sources as well as historical recordings to gain knowledge of the stylistic principles and parameters of piano playing in Chopin’s era.
In 2018 Anton presented a paper on his research at the Correct, But Not Beautiful Performance Symposium, held at the SCM. Anton was on the Organisation Committee for the Correct, But Not Beautiful Performance II Symposium held in Vienna 2019.
